Protecting your skin against the sun's powerful rays is important. Particularly if you have fair skin that burns easily.
Sunburn is a type of skin burn resulting from too much exposure to sunlight or sunlamps. Repeated exposure increases the risk of other conditions such as wrinkles, dark spots, and skin cancer. Symptoms include red, painful, itchy skin that's hot to the touch. Skin may also blister.
But what do you do if your SPF lotion doesn't work? Has this happened to you before? You apply your SPF barrier but you wake up the next day with irritating pain on your exposed parts.
Sometimes this happens because you didn't apply enough of the lotion, or maybe because the lotion was expired and you didn't notice it. So what do you do to relieve the pain and heal the burn?
There are a few things that you can do:
- Take a cold bath to relieve the pain
- Take pain medication such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen
- Stay out of the sun while you heal
- Eat foods high in omega 3 fatty acids and vitamin E such as salmon, walnuts, and carrots.
- Drink plenty of water
- Moisturize your skin with a powerful cream like Formula 2 Skin Care Cream
If you can prevent sunburn in the first place, that is a better route to take. But if you happen to fall victim to the sun's burning rays, then the tips above should help.
